Jessica’s Trunki – Her oxygen tank carrier

Posted on: May 29th, 2012 | 4 Comments

Recently we’ve been in touch with a woman called Carolyn, who’s shared with us her foster daughter’s alternative use for her Trunki suitcase. Jessica is a 7 year old with Cerebral Palsy and chronic lung disease, meaning she is dependent on an oxygen supply 24/7.

Cerebra is a unique charity set up to help improve the lives of children with brain related conditions through research, education and directly supporting the children and their carers. Jessica’s story is just one of the examples of the amazing work that they do.

Cerebra took a Trixie Trunki and modified it so that it could carry Jessica’s oxygen cylinder. This means that she is now able to walk around independently with her Trunki, and no longer needs an adult by her side carrying her oxygen cylinder. This has made a huge different to her life, allowing her to do normal every-day things like any other child.

Carolyn says: “Her confidence and ability is growing by the day as she develops this new sense of freedom that the Trunki has brought her, thanks to adaptions by Cerebra’s Inovation Centre.”

Isn’t it amazing what Cerebra have done for this little girl? To see lots more pictures and read examples of how the adapted Trunki has made a difference to Jessica’s life, click here to view a PDF put together by her  foster mother.

Please support the charity, Cerebra. Visit their website www.cerebra.org.uk to find out how you can help and how you can be helped! :o)

  1. [...] In May we told you about the charity Cerebra, who work to improve the lives of children with brain related conditions. One of the ways in which they do this is by modifying products to suit the specific child’s needs. If you’re not aware of Jessica and her oxygen tank Trunki, catch up here. [...]

Hi Kirsty, I have recently heard from Cerebra that Trunki have in fact donated several trunki’s to this charity so they can modify them to suit different childrens needs and another trunki has been adapted to includ back support for another disabled child. Cerebra’s Innovation Centre create/adapt equipment to suit individual childrens needs so having the basic trunki donated has proved very useful to them.
